I received my Agile Geodesic Pro 625 Blue Purple Burl on Thursday. I've ordered quite a number of things from Rondo Music over the last decade (even done a couple YouTube videos hahaha) and I have to say that this is THE most stellar Agile guitar I have ever played. Literally everything about the instrument is perfection -- finish, fret work, setup, tone, all of it is amazing, and I'm even more blown away by the fact that it only cost me $700. It puts my multi-thousand dollar Gibsons to absolute shame, and the lighter weight is going to help my back tremendously in the long run. You've got a really great new model here. Thanks for still selling guitars that punch WAY above their price point all these years later.
Question: Do I need special double ball end strings for this guitar Answer: No, standard single ball guitar strings may be used.
Question: What is the difference between passive and active pickups?
Answer: A passive pickup is a magnetic pickup which directly sends the signal from your string, through the wood, into the pickup, and then into the amp which creates the most dynamic sound you can produce. Many artists prefer a passive pickup which enables a multitude of tones. Jeff Beck, Darrell Abbott, Eddie Van Halen, and Jimi Hendrix are prime examples of passive pickup users. An active pickup is powered by a separate battery stored in the guitar enabling higher output and overall balanced frequency. Many artists who are looking for a consistent sound such as in metal music use active pickups to achieve a powerful and consistent tone without compromising quality. Kirk Hammett and Kerry King use active electronics which enable them to push their amps near their limits and still retain a tight and focused clarity in their sound.
Question: I received my Agile and there is some fret buzz. What do I do?
Answer: Your guitar was set up and buzz free when it was shipped. However the neck may have moved during shipment. This video should help: Set Up Tips. The video describes the set up for a 6 string guitar, but the concepts are the same for your 7 string guitar.
Question: I understand in general how to intonate a guitar, but the Geodesic has a different kind of saddle. How do I move the saddle to intonate the instrument
Answer: For moving the saddle, please see this photo. Step 1 is to unlock the saddle by loosening the saddle lock (white arrow) Step 2 is to loose the saddle itself (red arrow.) with these two lose you can now slide the saddle forward (if flat) or back (if sharp) after the 12th fret.
